A brief presentation  

Degerfors IF is a well known brand name in Swedish football.

The club, formed 13 January, 1907, is currently playing in the second highest Swedish League, Superettan.

Head Coach is Patrik Werner, assisted by Jonas Lindskog. Both are former players for the Club and are local.  

Most of the senior playing squad are also local talent, from the surrounding catchment area. Chairman is Jan-Ove Beckman  

Degerfors is a small town, in the province of Värmland, west central Sweden, with ca 10,000 inhabitants.

Located almost centrally between Gothenburg & Stockholm, ca 250 km.  

Degerfors has traditionally been an industrial community, closely connected to the local steelworks.

Nationally, Degerfors is best known for the soccer team Degerfors IF.

Despite the relatively small size of the town, Degerfors has always had a strong local support, and has played a total of 29 years in the highest division, Allsvenskan.

In the list of merits it is in 15th place in Sweden. In 1993 Degerfors IF won the Swedish Cup, went on to defeat Sliema Wanderers, Malta, only to be narrowly beaten by Parma, Italy in the following seasons Cup Winner’s Cup.

After relegation, they gained promotion by winning Division 1/North, and are currently (2011) playing in the second highest Swedish League, Superettan.
